WHAT WOULD the feelings of a young boy who enters college as a fresher be? Is he ready for college life? Will he overcome the stress at this point of time? These and many more questions are answered in the short film, "Adayalam" that runs for about 45 minutes. This has been made possible by a neat screenplay and natural acting by the lead players.
Naren Srinivasan studying in school is a talented youngster. When he is about to enter college he gets into a lot of problems. His mother and father are doctors and the former suspects that he is not normal. One morning Naren faints in his room and the parents get to know that the boy had taken a banned drug. How he gets cured and leads a normal life is shown convincingly.
P. Sitaram Chowdhry, the14-year old who acts as Naren Srinivasan, has done the role with ease. Director Amjathmeera Akilan has the ability to compose a shot and hold it for the viewers. His work is not like that of a new find but is as good as that of an experienced director. Vidya as the mother and Balan as the father have also contributed to the success of the film.— SRA.(The Hindu  Friday, Nov 22, 2002)
